Default my 993 on display at 991 launch

My local Porsche dealer has asked me to display my 993 at the 991 launch in February. There will be a 66 911 a 964 996 and 997 in the display as well. Now if I can get it back from my indie shop in time I will be all set. My car is having a cranking issue resolved an I just had pss10s installed and I am letting my indie take his time so I'm not pressed. I figure I will display the car
with my bbs lms and Hoosiers. Pics of the event wii be added.

Let me know if your 993 stays at the shop too long - the Dung Beetle would gladly fill in.

I'm not sure I understand the point of this. Is the dealer trying to show people how bloated and generic-looking the 911 has become over the years? My money says the air cooled cars will get far more attention in that lineup than the new 991.

Porsche recently did the same thing at their Stuttgart museum. They displayed a 993, 997 and 991 on their turn tables. I don’t remember the reasoning....some kind of evolution thing. I do remember that they left out the 996.

This was featured in one the recent periodicals that I take. I forget which one..sorry.

I think it is cool that they will feature your car. That says a lot about your car

I agree that most peoples first thought will be something along the lines of "look at how huge the newer cars are!"

No question about the car making it. The pss10s are installed now and I tell my indie no rush and he cuts me a breakon my bill. There is nothing making the car undriveable now so I will have the car back shortly. Walrod bushings are going on also. I always have a backup plan I can raid dad's garage for his pristine midnight blue 96.(all Stock)

We're doing the same thing with the PCA club at the Nashville dealership. I asked Mike if he would bring the Rivi Blue '95 Cab as the 993 display vehicle, he has agreed to do it. They're offering to detail the cars before the event, I told them I don't think that would be advisable (or necessary) for his car!

The Dealers here are doing the same thing, they were looking for all the cars in Black... That may be a challenge especially for the earlier cars.

So they also need a "911G".

Was I the only one who learned that is the designation for the pre-964 3.2SCs? Saw it referenced in the most recent Christoforus in a really cool overlay insert on the evolution of the 911. Never knew what to call that generation.

Nice!

I displayed my 993 at the 991 launch in Sweden. Sadly I had to work this evening so the dealer drove the car at the event. But I got some great pics of the event from Porsche Sweden and a bottle of Porsches own Champagne... I will also get a weekend with the 991 this summer.

I look forward to se pics!

That was one of the few Christoforus editions I may keep, the others are such a blatant push ....

There aren't any 3.2 SC's, those are Carreras too. The G program cars were produced from 8/85-7/86. My '84 is an E program car. The '89 model year was the K program.

They also had a G Series, when a particular Series was the designator, those were produced from 8/73-7/74. I believe the went from Series to Program in thr early SC era.
