Sure, but like I said the wipers can be removed and replaced easily. Takes about 1 minute. On for the wet, off for the dry. Besides, I'm not advocating removing the wipers, just not parking them in the middle of the windshield.

I rarely drive my car in the rain, so the wipers are off. They are in the trunk, and you're right, they are very easily popped back on when needed. The hardest part is trying to remember which wiper goes where... they are not the same.

On a race car, when racing in potentially wet conditions, particularly in an endurance event and very high speeds, parking in the center makes good sense for a tiny aero advantage... and every bit helps!

Totally unrelated to this thread but that pic of Long made me think of a video I saw of him the other day.

One of my all time favorite videos and threads...

Well I really don’t want to have to pull the intermittent relay, because it will never really get to the right position. But I do like it in the middle position maybe I will take of the passenger wiper while I am at it. But remove booth here in Germany is not really a good idea first it is not legal but if I drive to a track it usually get caught in the rain somewhere along the way.

Do without the wipers and slather the windshield with RainX, though I'm not sure that the wind resistance of the wipers makes that much of a difference in the whole equation.

Just remove the wipers if it is an aero issue. Bolt them back on in the rain.

With just a little practice, you can park the wipers at the far side (or elsewhere) easily. Not a big deal. Heck, pull the relay and try it, then put it back if you don't like it. Easy.

+1. I have the same issue. For people that have a dual use of the car, using racing seats both for track and street the wipers are annoying seating straight in your view.

If I had trouble seeing over my wipers at the track, I can't see how my head/helmet would be hitting the roof, IMO. But, my '84 is my track car, so I don't know.

the placement of the wipers on the 993 is different as you know from your 84. I dont know if that makes a difference, but in my experience and with my helmet close to the roof liner on my race car the wipers are very annoying on the overall field of view.

For me; visibility. You'd be amazed how much more of the nose and road/track you can see if you park the wipers on the right side (or center, in this case).

"Reversing" the wipers used to be standard operating procedure on the older cars.
