Interesting observation. In the BMW world, build quality goes up and down at any factory, with design changes, and from model to model (in the same time period). The most notable is on 3-series: The e30 is very well built and ages well; its succssor, the e36 is a POS that self-destructs; and the next model, the e46, is again well built and durable. Generally, 5 and 7-series are put together better than the 3, though why anyone would buy a 7 is beyond me (just my opinion).
