Default My new project. Not a P-Car, but still cool

Well I have been wanting one for years and chased this for 3 months. I bought it on a whim so not sure I'm going to hang on to it. I will drive it to the lake and see if it's something I want to keep. A very primitive vehicle. Frame off three years ago and been sitting ever since. Getting all the fluids and services done and new tires. Everything was rebuilt. After we drained the gas it fired right up. I know it's not our beloved 993's, but we all love cars.

Very nice Mike. I will give you a call in a few minutes. Don't let this truck make up your mind about Fj40's. This year (unless modified) has drum brakes all around, and is a 3 speed, with a F motor. Later models had a 4 speed 2f motor which was a 4.2 Your motor is a 3.9 I believe. And disc brakes were added in the rear in 75 or 76. They are completely different trucks. If you can't get attached to it, you may need to drive a later model FJ 76-83. Looks sweet. I love these beasts.

Man, that is awesome. I'd take just about any FJ. Our neighbor at our old place had a semi-restored FJ40 in... Smurf Blue! Definitely a spartan vehicle.

We had a '95 Land Rover D90 for about two years. Driving that thing around was a treat (in nice weather or offroad). Then the P-Car bug hit. Every time I see an FJ, D90, or even a well-done Jeep CJ, I get a little envious.

WOW! We had the same color combo when I was a kid in West Africa.

I'm green with envy, I LOVE those trucks. It even has the rear heater. Good luck and see you over at Ih8mud.com.

I'll look for some pictures while at the folks place this Christmas.

It does have the F motor, but the PO did put in the 4 speed transmission, It does indeed have drums all the way around, but disc conversion kits are available. The buy in price IMHO was right, I'll give you that when we talk. For waht I have in it it will be fun to run around in.

Joining IH8MUD later today. The PO did the rear heater as well. I mean this thing was taken all the way apart. What sucks is it sat outside for 2.5 years after the restoration. PO got a divorce. He spent 20K on the resto. I'm going to change all the bolts to stainless.

Very nice! Reminds of this SUV recently purchased by a Rennlister on the 993TT Forum:

I remember these well, it's beautiful. As I recall they don't sip gas, they gulp it big time. It'll be great for a toy. Enjoy.
