Dear disillusioned teenager,
Do you REALLY think that an audience of mostly mature adults will believe this horse****? Honestly.

Your father apparently owns a fleet of expensive cars. You take pictures of the cars and of you driving the cars. Then you post the pics on yet another car forum.

Am I wrong?

OK, I think we've strayed close enough to OT forum behavior, which is the last thing that will be allowed here in the 993 forum.

I was wondering what type of discussion would occur when Sloan and/or Victory is mentioned, but wasn't expecting this.

Might I suggest we just leave this thread for dead and move on?

Otherwise some people are going to be sent to their rooms for a temporary vacation time out.

Thanks.

Lewis,
You've made some good points.

On the other hand, does Rennlist need or want yet another adolescent charlatan, purporting to be something that he's not?

Just a thought.

I think that as to the posts relating to the vendors experience, it is fair to stay on. Rennlist was built in honest opinions and feedback on vendors that has helped me and the community to make informed decisions. Have we been entirely successful? No, however healthy debates keep vendors "honest" in my opinion and we all benefit at the end.

So it would be a loss to toss the entire thread out. Having said that I agree that maybe you should move your super moderator magic wand and sent the adolescence postings to the land of oz...

And all I did was point out for Cactus' benefit that short wheelbase conversion car might not be all it's cracked up to be.................

A thought, if the internet/web forums existed in 1980:

Me, over on the 911 Forum.

July 1980:

Hi guys,

I'd like to introduce myself. I'm 18, just graduated high school, and picked up a '68 911 with a "built" 2.0 engine. I've been doing high speed road rallies since I was 16 and got my license in a '78 Scirocco I've modded a bit. I'm really interested in using this car for autocross, even time trialing, since the Golden Gate Region of PCA out here has some intense competition in their series.

I know a lot of guys told me not to get a short wheelbase car, but this was the best one I found in my budget. Didn't know any mechanics, so no PPI. But I'm confident this is a good car.

October 1980:

Hi again. Major mechanical problems with my modded 2.0S engine. Holed a piston. Guy who the seller told me rebuilt it never touched the car. Have taken it apart myself, and the local PCA guys like Bruce Anderson, Jerry Woods and Jim Pasha (among others) have given me pointers on how to proceed. And a local race shop told me about these guys who just graduated from college doing machine work for heads, etc.--Doug Peterson at Comptech. (Since that probably doesn't ring a bell outside the Porsche world, Doug and Don ended up doing the Honda Indy engine for CART in the mid-'90s, and Doug won multiple IMSA championships in the Camel Lights prototype class.)

Etc. etc. etc.

Anyway, I probably would have been laughed out of here, too.

Okay boys, again, this topic has strayed far afield of where it started. I'm closing this, and if I can suggest we abandon the topic of sloan for a while.
