Default Speed pulse for Becker Radio

Hi Everyone,

Sorry if this has been answered several times before, but I have done loads of searches and cannot find the answer. I am replacing the horrible Sony flat front radio in my 993 with a Becker. It needs a speed pulse input on pin 1, can I just tap into a wire on the speedo, and if so, which one?

Many thanks

Mart

Hi Mart

I think this thread answers your question:
https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...r-cascade.html

I have recently installed a Becker (7941) in my 993, HUGE upgrade. Which one do you have?

More info my thread here:

I didn't have to hook up the speed-pulse from the climate, so I believe it was a part of the standard ISO plug in my car ('98).

on the back of the climate control, it is hooked by two wide plugs.
to remove the climate control unit, insert keys in the 4 holes and pull out.
if you don't have blaupunkt keys, insert 4 rivets.
If no rivets, push it from the back.
If it doesn't come out, it could be hooked with a zip-tie, head in footwell and torchlight
un-plug the two plugs on back of ccu.
on back of the ccu sockets, one socket has G and a number on the black socket.
G15 is for speed signal
G7 is for reverse signal.
now locate the cable on the plug that goes into the G15 socket location (should be black/blue)
slice it a bit and tap a cable to your gps from there.
same on G7 for the reverse signal (white/red).
regards

Thank you for the replies, it really is very much appreciated. I have a Becker Mexico 7803. I really wanted a player which would look "right" in the 993 dashboard. It came with a plug so I can wire in an IPod or mp3 player. I'm going to take a power feed from the antenna swiched output to a USB power supply, and then take it to the box behind the handbrake.

Since I got the car, I have hated the aftermarket Sony which doesnt have any controls, which means you have to use a remote all the time - inconvenient and possibly dangerous.

Thanks once again, I did try searching the site, but clearly I havent got the hang of doing searches!

As an aside, I always thought the look of the retro Mexico 7948 was cool even though it wouldn't work for us yanks. I had no idea how much they're commanding now that they're out of production! $3300??? Craziness!
