SO's DD is a Passat 1.8T Wagon ..... not bad .... prompted this project for more of a stealth wagon for my DD .... W8 Passat Variant AWD: bought a 'roller' , so am currently replacing the engine & rebuilt the TC/trans. Have the fresh engine & trans together & wheeled under the chassis tonight - no crushed pinkies yet ...

I vote for the Caddy! I don't think you can even get a manual tranny Avant anymore...can you?
No TDI Quattro Avant with a stick, and no TDI VW with Syncro and a stick.
My wife just bought a 2012 Mini Countryman ALL4-awd, turbo motor, and a 6 speed manual. Just 2400 miles on it so far, got a set of Nokians on it for winter...still waiting for the white stuff to see how lively it is.
So far, a very impressive vehicle-compact, certainly not as much room as an Avant. That being said, the Thule rocket box will go on top for trips.

A few years later added A3 Sportback 2.0T (wife's DD)
to be replaced soon by new 328iT (6-speed Xdrive)

Big fan of Avants, my family car is an A6 2.7 Quattro Biturbo 6 speed manual, tuned to 325 BHP. Cruising at the Autobahn at 155MPH/260 KMH....Nice
View from the top is my brothers 964, my fathers Jaguar XKR and the A6. The 993 was in the garage....

Audi A4 Avant Quattro is the best winter toy... And the Golf GTI is a perfect summer car when my whife drives the 993, not even close to the summer toy (Porsche) but it does it's work quite well...

There are some really nice Avants here. My wife and I are huge wagon fans.
Here's are Saab 9-5 wagon pulling the camping duty on Maui.
And if you are a Cruiserhead, you'll enjoy these previous "wagons" of mine.
