With all that attached airflow, it looks like we're in no danger of stalling.

And the modders will now try to figure out how to do brake light deletes.

Thanks for posting, haygee.

"The drag coefficient probably benefits substantially from the car's full-length flat undertray."

Interesting about the 3rd brake light, I wonder how the basket handle does?

The flow around the mirrors is on purpose. It's suppose to clean off the widow & remove due & dirt form the mirror as you drive.

Anyone who has driven their 993 in the rain, will know the flow patterns very well, there are a few good long lines that form.

Cool article, thanks for sharing! Considering the first 911 was 30 years old by the time the 993 was created and the two have a pretty identical shape. Didn't know about the problems with the Audi TT either!

That'll smooth airflow for sure...

Cool article, thanks!

RUF shaved the drip rails on its 911s as way to significantly reduce aero drag. Anybody have any experience with those A pillar "winglets", or fairing strips, sold thru Automotion (and other vendors) that are supposed to serve the same purpose?

I have the winglets from them. When I first got the car it would whistle around 80mph. They were put on to reduce that noise. Well come to find out it was the sunroof seal making the noise.

Other then looks, not sure what they do, but I have not done any kind of testing. I'm sure they smooth the airflow a little around the windshield.

If it starts raining while I'm driving my TT at speed, the rear window doesn't even get a drop of water on it. Craziest thing.

I have those same CF winglets that Mike does. His fit a little better than mine. They do reduce wind noise around the a pillar. If you plan to get some, I would get the RUF ones - I think the fit is best on those. Unless, of course, you can get some of the original Porsche ones

Stealth... How do have yours attached? The ones I've seen indicate they are s'posed to be screwed into the A pillar (screw that!). Thanks.

That's been a 911 trait since the beginning. The rear wiper is completely useless on these cars.

A while back I was wondering why the Mitsu Evo's had the little winglets on the roof. i googled a bit and found this:
http://www.mitsubishi-motors.com/cor...004/16E_03.pdf

I had read the aero testing a few months ago at about the same time I found the Evo papers. It would be interesting to try replicate the wool string test on one of our cars with vortex generators on the roof. Mitsubishi saw a difference of 0.02 on their Cf of drag. Additionally the decrease is air seperation would make the wings more effective possibly getting the back end neutral or maybe even some downforce? Any volunteers?
