Excellent notions, Joe. My speedo was indicating mid-190's on the front straight there.

About 160 mph in Homestead when we used half of the NASCAR oval. You can drive it with one hand no problem at that speed.

To answer the op's question yes the car will go 170. I am not getting into the where it is safe to do do but your machine is capable of 171 according to the factory which is usually conservative.

Slow enough not to have my car impounded by the 50 over law in our province.

Besides, Porsche's claims are noted for being conservative. I believe the 270 km/hr number.

But back in the mid 80s, I have done 138 MPH on two wheels with a mere 500 cc engine under me.

Speedo indicated 146. I had a 1/4 tank of fuel. The front end felt a little light for my liking/comfort level. I thought some ballast up front would be helpful. The car had more, but I wasn't going there.

It sure did stink up the garage after a ten min. cool down run!

My wife clocked it in the minivan as proof

My GPS got lost for a few minutes on a mountain road. When it recovered, it showed a max speed of 288 mph. Hard to argue with a GPS, and I'm keeping that max speed. Please don't try to dissuade me.

Last summer I legally went 150 mph on the autobahn in my buddy's 964. Over here, I have only had the 993 up to 120 or so - obviously on a track.

I don't think you are going to see much over 160... Back straight at VIR I'm somewhere around 155 (not really paying attention to the speedo though) and its about done... While it may have a few more MPH in it, its climbing so slowly it would take 10 miles to gain another 10 mph.

John, what about when you're behind the wheel at RA, and not C?
