Default Adhesive Question

Was hand washing my car yesterday when the "S" part of my "carrera4s" (rear decklid badging) fell off. What is the best adhesive with which to reattach?

Thanks in advance.

Autozone sells emblem adhesive. Look for one of these: http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3...beQH8HT14PGTgl

How was it attached by Porsche...double sided tape cut in the shape of a S, of course?

I wouldn't be using a liquid adhesive that might affect the paint.

From the factory all the emblems were attached with double-sided foam tape. I would use that.

Looking at the back of the "s" ... It was attached with adhesive.

Has the decklid been repainted?

Not since I have owned it (2000).

The "carrera4" part of the badging is clearly attached with tape. Maybe that is why it did not fall off. However the "carrera4" is much thicker and raised off the decklid.

The "s" is a different material altogether. It is quite thin and sits very flush to the decklid. I would think tape would be as thick as the emblem itself.

Sorry to steal your trd,

my engine "phono absorbing"material is getting hard and bended....

so I was thinking of glue it or change it....

any suggestion?

on the engine insulation, I was able to put small amounts of Gorilla Glue in there, then roll up some shop towels between the engine and the pad to keep the pressure on until it dried. it stuck really well. just trim any remaining glue that seeps out, then go in with a black Sharpie and touch up the areas of the glue you can see. use small amounts of glue as the Gorilla Glue sort of expands. Ideally, you would just replace the whole pad (as I have seen that suggested) but I think you do that if the engine is ever out for some other major repair.
