Check if your main brake lights are also busted. My basket handle brake light was not working and also noticed the left brake light was busted, when I replaced the bulb, the 3rd light worked. I also cleaned the connectors by taking off the basket handle (don't know it this fixed the problem ) and tested the 3rd lights by connecting it to a 12 volt source.
