No, not what you are thinking. I am going to replace my mufflers with rsr or fister's and both require an exchange of my stock parts. I wonder if holding onto the stock mufflers will add value at some later date. My garage is filled with stock motorcycle exhausts and I'm questioning the 'wisdom' of keeping a vehicle all o.e.
Break out your crystal ball and tell me what will add value to a 993 in 2030.

Your title sounds like a misson and strategy session. Lets make sure we articulate our Core Values.

This is very, very serious business here.

Christian -sounds like you might have sat through one of those sessions. I had to lead those sessions so you can imagine my views on them. So Christian, tell me what is the mission and strategy of your ownership in a 993. I would hope you say....to have incredible enjoyment in driving a great machine.

Seriously, I understand your question and unless you have a very low mileage example, I doubt anyone will care 20 years from now what exhaust is on your 993. Saving the original mufflers is only worth what you can get for selling the aftermarket exhaust separately when you sell your 993 in 2030. For one of my cars, I saved the stock mufflers so when I packaged the car for sale, the Billy Boats came off, stock went back on and I sold the BBs for $900 greater than what I would have gotten if they stayed on the car.

BTW --- I am really enjoying your journey with your 993.

Who knows what 2030 will bring?

I save all of my take offs.In 2030 someone who is going to want a 993 is going to want it stock.Just like now a bone stock 68' S is for more valuable than a highly modified 68' S.The cans are only worth $500.00 ,if that, and if you have the room why not keep all the Porsche stuff. As for your bikes, unless you have ones that are Italian and made in small numbers(less than 2500 total production run)trash the junk.IMO

I generally get rid of all the stock parts I take off my cars. Otherwise I'd have enough parts for another car. A lot of people try to keep the stuff for the next owner of their car. I don't care about the next owner. The car is mine to do what I please with it

My car is 1 of 7 1995 RB cabs.

I will enjoy modifying to a certain level, but keep every item original to the car.

Tough decision but a core fee of $375 or whatever, is peanuts. Sometimes not worry about keeping each nut and bolt can a liberating too.

I'll keep looking for cores on eBay for now. My car isn't going to be off the road until we get snow then I'm sure I'll still have a few months to get it done.

I paid $240 on ebay about a year ago for a set of stock mufflers to send to Darin so I could keep my original mufflers in case I ever wanted to go back to stock. Ironically, the mufflers Darin converted to Stage IIIs had fewer miles on them and were probably in better shape than the ones I kept.

993 mufflers would take up too much room in the garage. I would get rid of them.

There are purists out there like myself, who would prefer everything to be bone stock. An all stock, unmolested 993 has, and will have appeal. The 993 is the the greatest Porsche ever made, by leaving everything stock is like saying I respect the car, and I love it just the way it is. Just my 2 cents.

For better or worse, I have plenty of storage space.
