Default Help! cigarette lighter removal

Hi,

I'm trying to remove the cigarette lighter bezel/housing from my dash to install some OEM CF trim. I've searched through the old posts with no luck. I already removed the foam trim around it but the surrounding ring will not come off. Anybody have an idea how you remove the cigarette lighter housing from the metal frame?

TIA!!

Just plug the power plug of the oe compressor, then pull it out. That's how mine came out. Hasn't gone back in yet. Radio needs to come our for that.

I read about that trick but it didn't work for me. The radio and CCU are already out of the way and even the foam dash trim where the new piece goes. This one is a PITA!

Are you able to disconnect the plug off the back? The plug has a bulb on the side that will not come fit through the hole while connected.

The plug is already disconnected since I wanted to change the bulb while I was in there. There is almost no room inside the dash so its very hard to plug it back in.

Got it out! I found my answer in the 964 forum. Here is a good thread for future reference.
