It was once explained to me that the biggest difference between autosports helmets and motorcycle helmets is that the autosports helmets are rated for multiple impacts.
If you look at a new autosports helmet next to a new cycle helmet you can see that the autosport is larger on the outside due to the extra 'filling' inside. Kind of a 'Pumpkin Head' effect

I don't own an autosports helmet but here is my motorcycle helmet which I got signed by Pascal Picotte down at Road Atlanta during a race one year.

My Schuberth Concept 2.

Great for taking pics along the road, talking to people and best of all, it has a built-in retractable sun visor, a feature that all motorcycle helmets should have.

The martini theme is my newest. The blue/gold flake checkered theme (that I copied from Greg Moore) is my older one. The Jenson Button theme helmet is my Dad's newest. All done by Brad at Bullseye Visual.

Here's "mine", bought for me by my wife at a London charity auction. It's signed by both Alonzo and Hamilton, when they were still team mates (and still on speaking terms).

Here are a few pics of my helmets.
Gray Arai is my motorcylce helmet. 2007 25th Anniv Honda VFR, current bike.
The Senna and Fitippaldi are original units painted by the artist who painted all of Senna's helmet from when he was a boy and started in karts until the end.
The white one is my DE helmet which I added some vinyl of my own design to add some color.
