Default OT Kindof : Building a V12 engine

Check this out:

http://www.wimp.com/tiniestengine/

Holy Crap! Now that is amazing. They guy is obviously a master machinist, or a watchmaker. Insane attention to detail, did you check out the details in the valve train?

Interesting, he did not use any gaskets, and the valve train is not oiled. I think the reciprocating mechanism driven by an eccentric off the flywheel is an oil pump - not sure.

I guess its a diesel given it has no ignition - and notice that the pistons have no rings?

The amount of skill shown - wow!!

Cheers,

Mike

Watchmaker, right? Watch the way his hands move with the tools .. like a surgeon.

pretty cool and thanks for posting Mike. It looks like a diesel ships engine! It brought back memories from an old ship that I worked on and the engine looked like a mirror image. That engine was designed in the 50's on that ship.

No ignition system. Not Diesel. It is running on compressed air from an external compressor. Clever but pointless.

Boy, you are deflating my balloon!

Yeah, that would make sense now that I see it..it would also explain why no cooling is needed. However it takes nothing away from the machining, and I do not think its pointless at all.

Cheers,

Mike

ferrari...if you are going to build every single piece by hand, wouldn't he have been better off just building it larger and actually having a real car?
