Three Wheelin'
I have heard that the stone guards can come off in lots of little pieces which can be a PIA. Sometimes the removal leaves glue residue as well which must be removed but I don't think that is difficult to do.
I watched as mine were replaced recently. Mine had been on the car since new and I had read somewhere on RL that the older they are the more difficult it is to remove them in one piece. The guy heated up the stone guards with a heat gun until he felt it was the proper temperature (I would guess warmish, not hot) and started pulling from the rear most portion of the stoneguard. He pulled constantly at approximately a 45 degree angle with one hand and used his other hand, closer to where the stone guard is attached, to increase that angle to about 60 degrees. He repeated the process until the stone guard was totally removed. There was no glue residue left on the car. It took him about 1 minute per side.

Just replaced mine. I change them every 2 years and they pull off in one piece. I can pull both sides off and install new ones in under and hour. If they have been on for a long time I would use a heat gun and adhesive remover to get them off.

Found a guy locally who claims he can do this with guards for under $200. Something called supershield. Will do on Friday. Pray for me......

Mike, only word of caution is to be sure he is using 14 mil material
The thinner 8mil material will work to some extent.
If you get hit with a slightly larger rock... then, not so much.
