Default Hot water wash !

Ok, so I'm old and a bit particular, but ! I'll never freeze my *** off washing my cars again.

I had a Moen hot/cold mixing valve hose bib installed this summer and today was the first chilly day I got to feel the benefits......very sweet.

Very nice but beware the warm/hot water strips wax off too so just keep that in mind you might need to apply wax or a sealer more frequently...I am making a mental note to add this to my dream garage, along with a drain.

Me too! I have gone as far (more than once! )as to carry two five gallon buckets of warm water to my Porsche garage...in spite of the spills, sweat and loss of wax. I don't do cold well.

I had one installed when I built my current house almost 15 years ago (different brand hose bib). It's a frost free one too, so no worries of it freezing. There's also a pressure release valve built into it so the car wash bucket is left under the hose bib when I'm done so any water coming out is captured. Nothing like a warm water bath in the late fall or early winter for Porsche and all winter long for my 330i, wife's Volvo, or kids' cars. If you have hot and cold water in the basement, it's such an easy thing to do...

Would you happen to have the part number for that Moen piece?
I don't recall seeing one like that before.

Thanks

Thanks. I see the Moen on that page.

I am familiar with the Woodford units; this is the first time I've seen the Moen. I never would have thought of Moen for something like this.

I've had a std. hot/cold faucet out by my driveway for 3 yrs now. (This Moen unit looks much nicer though) Understand that by the time the water goes through 50 - 75' of hose in cold weather conditions the water is not all that "hot", but it is much, much better than the near freezing water that would be coming out the faucet if you didn't have hot water there.

What I'm trying to say is the threat of removing wax is very minimal, the water that actually hits the car is not going to be "hot" but it will be pleasantly warm.

My neighbors do think I'm nuts hand washing my cars in 3x degree weather though. What's new!

Added benefit is being able to wash off the salt brine they use in TN from the underbody. I don't like using the pressure/wand car washes to do this as I would have to drive the car there (and heat it up in the process) and then hit it with cold water. I just don't like doing that.

I didn't know these existed. VERY helpful. Time to call the plumber!!

Also agree that it has to be very hot water before it starts to strip off wax.

Hot water on a cold window can crack it. I've done it myself. I've also shattered cold glasses in the kitchen sink by running hot water on them. Be VERY careful with this or you'll be buying a new windshield!
