It's coming along nicely! Are sticking with the stock brake system? Sorry if it's already been addressed.

Stock rear brakes with cut away backing plates and proportioning valve eliminated.

Front brakes are 928 GTS calipers (same as Carrera RS or 993 Turbo in size) that are black with same Porsche font as original. I had to flip the crossover pipe and bleeders so orientation correct for 911. Discs are floating Zimmerman 322 mm with aluminum centers.

I'm familiar w. the 928 GTS front calipers. Interesting choice on the rears, any reason why you decided against the 993RS or turbo rears?

I owned a 964 Carrera Cup which has dimensionally and hydraulically the identical set up (along with the 964 RS and RSR as well, except a larger master cylinder) to what I am running here and those brakes are fine for me, so I decided not to add the unsprung, rotating weight of larger rear brakes.

Yes, but I didn't write it down. If memory serves me it was ~ 2 pounds lighter than a 993 Turbo disc with the bolt up steel bell. As you can see quite a bit of disc assembly is replaced with aluminum if not eliminated altogether by the spoke construction.

I wish the reading on scale was in the picture

Won't front/rear brake bias be negatively affected without the correct proportioning valve in place? I remember when I installed the 928GTS front calipers on my 951, I needed to also switch the PV so that the bias wouldn't be out of whack.

Great progress BTW! Nice to see it coming together with detail and thought.

Thanks. The 964 Carrera Cup cars eliminated the proportioning valve and I did here as well, so system balance is same as 964 Cup I had and that was good.

My chassis here also has 4 channel ABS option instead of normal 3 channel - a 964 Cup is only 3 channel.

I realized I only had the disc installed on one side of car so just weighed them.

993 Turbo = 20.4 pounds
Zimmerman = 18.6 pounds
So, 1.8 pounds lighter on my scale.

As Bob says not so most users would notice, especially in street use
the f/r torque bias ratio for a stock 993 w/o(w/) p/v would be 1.604(2.970)
Bobs is 1.659 or slightly more front biased, note the 911 thru '83 was 1.579 w/o p/v

All of the 964Cups and early 993Cups also used pretty close to this setup w/o p/v

just for comparison late 993Cup and all 993RS are 1.426(2.64)

On my cars 993RS is great for track because it diverts some of the load to the back, my street car w/ the same brakes 993RS and no p/v has also been fine though not used as hard

low ride height, 4 channel abs and an effective lsd help to be able to use more rear bias, more front is safer on the street which is why Porsche(and all other oems) tend to go that way
