WOW! I was offered one at a reasonable price but was concerned about fragility in track use, I cringe at every outing at the debris flying up at me.

Yep, all new factory RS parts: hood, rocker panels, front spoilers, rear spoiler, RS glass, wind up windows, manual mirrors & new European bumper caps.

oh mi,

cup car this is better than 3 hookers, a pocket full of chips and a pound of blow on a vagus Friday night.

Where did you source the roof panel?

With all that going on, your heart would need a lot of stimulation from your Vagus Nerve to keep the its safe!!

The roof came from Sunset Porsche via Germany.

Engine crankcase is assembled, but I had buyer's remorse on using regular main bearings, so it is coming back apart to install Porsche Motorsport mains. Everything is in hand to finish engine and machine work complete.

After the main bearing remorse, it also seemed the shop was a little out of hand with chassis parts all around and some basic fabrication work to do to be building an engine anyway.

With that thought, I started back on the chassis in earnest. When body complete, on ground painted and interior finished with wheels and tires on, I will finish engine.

There is no time line here, I work on it when I feel like it.

Glad to know I'm not the only one that cringes at all the crap flying up at me when I am on the track

Default Someday our ship will come in . . .

Great project thread!

Just do not add all the individual bills up, but if you do, don't tell us. We need to be able to delude ourselves that it is within reason someday . . .

Way, way cheaper than the other option = a new 911 which I considered.

Very brief consideration I might add, the new stuff sucks IMHO.

991 too big, bloated, over imposition of computer control (s), too gaudy, too complex, junk manual gearbox, engine without dry sump, the list goes on. Cayman OK in size, but has most of other issues, even though a mid engine really appeals to me.

Plus building a car is a lot more fun

I get it but wait until you feel the turn-in on a 991. I wouldn't buy one either but you can't deny the improvements in chassis dynamics.

Wow just wow! I hope to see this rig in person again soon!

Can I ask which body shop here in San Diego you are using to do the sunroof delete roof panel? I so want to do this myself....
