Default 101 between Santa Barbara and Monterey

Anyone drive this recently and have beta on current road conditions?
I heard a few reports of people driving back from the Historics complaining about recent paving and lottsa loose gravel.

thanks

I was in the area last week and there was a lot of construction around Santa Barbara. That's as far north as I went.

Did the drive (actually went all the way from SD to SF) a few weeks ago and yes, some loose gravel abound and some construction north of Santa Barbara.

I drove up there about 2 weeks ago, from LA through Santa Barbara and up to Solvang via Hwy 154. I left late a night (10p) and hit construction traffic just north of Oxnard. Like 1-lane only parking lot kind of traffic. I don't know the hours of construction but on the way back (leaving Solvang at 3p) was smooth sailing. So I think the key is to know when caltrans is shutting down lanes.

I'm planning on driving up to Thurs night around 7p from LA...

from kein ersatz

"Did the drive down the coast US 1 from Monterey to San Simeon / Cambria on Tuesday.

There is major road work just south of Lucia lodge / Cafe, be prepared to wait 20-minutes or more and the road is rough but passable (down to one-way at a time over a major land slide area). "

I just did the trip from SB to Carmel. There are some delays but the areas where there was gravel were one lane at a time with the throwing of gravel not an issue. If there is a road more worthy of putting up with a little delay, I don't know where it is. Enjoy.....Chris
