Default 993 C2S 18' rims and tires

Hello gentlemen
Pardon the first post but I've been browsing all throughout but I just couldn't
get the exact answer for my query
Been seeing different and conflicting feedbacks which leads to more confusion

I have a 993 C2S currently on stock 17' rims and I am now on the fence in looking for the best if not the optimal 18' rims and tires for my wide body Carrera

The question is: What 18' rims is the correct/optimal rim size(dimension) and matching tire size for my C2S (wide body) for the front and rear, offsets included?

Any tire brand suggestions would also be very much appreciated

Thank you in advance

I think... "correct" are the solid spoke turbo twists in 8" front and 10" rear. Optional were the hollow spoke turbo twists as delivered on the 993TT. A nice, but non-correct option are the 996TT turbo wheels, which look a bit different and have an 11" rear width. They seem to be much more available and much less expensive then the 993 TT wheels.

For tires, I'd take a very hard look at the new Michlein Super Sports tires in 225x40x18 front and 285x30x18 rear (factory turbo sizes). If you go for the 11" rear, i'd bump the fronts to 235 or 245 and the rear to 305 or 315 or so.

Thank you for the quick reply ca993twin. Much appreciated.

Will a set of rims with the following specs work for my C2S wide body?

Front 18x7.5 ET 50
Rear 18x10 ET 65

I'm no expert on offsets and backspace, but the wheels you mention seem to be from a narrow body. They will fit but will look very odd in the rear. You "could" correct that with an approx 1" spacer on the rear, but you might as well get actual wide-body wheels for your car. If your budget is limited, consider those 996TT wheels. In solid spoke you can set a nice set for about $500-$600. In hollow spoke, a bit more... $800-$1000. 11" rear wheels look great on the wide bodies.

Cool! Thanks for taking the time in answering my questions

You just saved me from pulling the trigger on the set that I mentioned
Hope you can point me to a "nice set for about $500-$600"

Great! You have been very helpful
If I can only name my new set of rims after you, I'd do so

Thanks again for the lead

You're welcome. There are hundreds of listings on eBay... search for "porsche turbo wheels". If you were a paying member of Rennlist, you could look at the classifieds on this site for wheels... buying from a Rennlister is a lot safer than buying from who-knows-who on eBay.

I would recommend holding out for the hollow-spokes. You can go with either the 993 or 996 versions as mentioned by Steve. No reason to carry the extra weight around.
As far as correctness, mine came with a set of the18" hollow-spokes, and I've not seen too many US spec C2S's with the 17"... so the 18" hollow spokes would definitely be in keeping with what was on these cars when new.
The 993 hollows are a bit harder to dig up, but they do come up for sale every so often. The 996's come up on Craigslist fairly often. I happen to have a set of each.
I got the 996 hollow spokes for $600 a couple of years ago... they needed a re-finish, but that was a fun little DIY project that has held up very well.

Thanks for the advice
As it is now, I have not seen any good deals on turbo hollow spokes

Be patient and wait for a nice set of the hollow spokes if you want to be correct+.

Agree with the recommendation for Michelin SuperSports. Less expensive than the PS2's and much better. They have better wet/dry traction, carry a 30K mile warranty and come "N" rated in 18" sizes. I discussed the differences at length with some Michelin folks at Parade this year in Savannah and they will definitely be going on my '96 with the next tire change.

As for wheels, I'm partial to the 18" HRE 945's I've got, but sounds like you want to stay with a factory wheel.
