Good news! (funny tale of fortune)
I ordered the PS rack rebuild kit and while I love getting all up into my cars, I was dreading this job. Mostly due to my habit of removing parts, cleaning then being compelled to powder coat or polish the entire area. Most of us are probably in the same boat where once the access panel is removed, looks like a can of cosmoline exploded, followed by a blast of dirt, cobwebs, and a pound of "sticky dust". Nasty.
However once I started cleaning, I noticed the feed line to the PS rack was loose! Could it be? Nahhh. Too easy. However once I cleaned up the entire area and tightened the line, I put a think coat of clear silicone over the connection and dropped the car back on the ground. An hour later after some "spirited test sessions" on one of the great South carolina back roads, the car was back in the garage and up in the air. BONE DRY.
Word to the wise...sometimes the Porsche Gods ARE forgiving.
