I like the idea of the "better" jack anyways, and this car will not be in a major concours, so I will go with the one from onefstm.

Hi Mike,

Yeah I think that's probably the best choice, I'm fairly sure that is the correct vintage version with the same part number that I have on the jack that the factory provided on my S Cabriolet when it was delivered to BHP. It's 000.721.711.05 and has a really cool serrated bottom on the foot to keep it from slipping. Here's the PET however, which shows that at some point, they rolled it again to a 996 number ..

The scissors jack is the correct jack for C2S, C4S, and Turbos.

And also ... above PET doesn't show a picture of the scissor jack, only the p.o.s. nb jack, but the number they list for the Turbo is a scissor jack, albiet a 996 number because they rolled it for the new car ...

Mike, I just saw this on E Bay. I don't know about who is selling it. Just for your information. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/96-Po...item519b31bbd1

I remember using it on slightly uneven ground - and the footing of the jack kicked out.
I've had one collapse on me on my garage floor and punched in some bodywork on my car. I hate that friggin jack. I didn't really know about the turbo scissors model. That would be the one to have rather than the piece of crap that comes with a normally aspirated 993.
I will be searcning for one now immediately.

So if there is anyone else who wants a NB, single arm jack that doesn't work well from the factory and is likely to drop the car, he/she can have it.
I think your heart was in the right place, it was good of you to offer.

After this thread I need to check what junk is in my trunk.

I do know AAA is programed in my cell phone.

I have the p.o.s. version in my trunk in the original felt bag (and a spare that I will give away--no felt bag), and would never contemplate really using that thing--dangerous. I keep it there to keep the car as "period perfect" as possible. No, I don't do concours.

AAA is in my phone too.

I would suggest the nb jacks should be removed from service. Mine sheared in half before dropping the car. I was astonished and embarrassed when an onlooker asked if that was an OEM jack. ;-( nuff said.
