YAY! FINALLY taking the 993 to Tail of the Dragon
It only took Three years since moving to the Dirty South, but I am finally going to the Dragon!
If anyone else is willing, we will have a nice little group of various cars and motorcycles meeting at Eurofest- A car show/event at the BMW plant for lunch, then hitting a LOT of curvy mountain roads, staying in Robbinsville for the night.
PM me if you have nothing better to do or are interested Oct 15 & 16.
Low brow friendly. Not out to impress, just a guy's weekend away from job, kids and spouces. with all things with wheels.
Pics will follow.

You will have a blast! I've been thru many times with both the bike (01 Heritage) and the car (98C2S)... I think the car is more fun! The turns are so tight and the ride so technical, it's hard to enjoy it on a bike. While you are there, you have to drive the Cherola Skyway... Not as tight as the Dragon, but faster and more fun (IMO)...
Good luck... and look out for the popo... they are everywhere!

BTW, Highway 9 (your avatar) was a TON of fun. Bat Cave to Black Mountain is one of the best mountain runs I have ever experienced. Let me know if the tail is better or worse.

Awesome roads down there. I found when I was down there for a week that many of the lesser known roads were just as fun, if not more fun, because they were less traveled. Also check out the Cherohola skyway! Have a blast...Im jealous!

I've done many runs through the TOD in my Boxster. Some day I want to run it in the Turbo Have fun. Be safe. Don't contribute to the Tree of Shame. And check out these other roads nearby:

The tail is great.. Even the trip in and out can be a great time. Earlier this year a group of us took a trip there from ATL. It ended with a road block in the next town.. Because allegedly there were a group of "Porsche's Racing" .. Some Say they were over 100 mph over the posted speed limits?

Great video. I liked the lines you were taking. Staying on the right side of the double yellow lines, even, very polite. How could Law Enforcement take issue with such conservative driving?

I just did the drive last week with my wife together. Love the road. As already said, best way to do it early in the morning. Let me know where you stay in Robbinsville and I can meet you early morning on day 2 to join you guys on the TOD.
Here are some videos from or run. Unfortunately it was a rainy day so I couldn't to fast. Priority #1 is always to be back save with cars not damaged ;-)

Thanks.. That was shot from my 6GT3 Windshield mount ($15) for iPhone, which was what I used to shoot the video.
