Timing is everything. When I want to buy the deals are nowhere to be found. My objective is a sub 20k pristine car without any modifications. I know you can reverse things, but I (and others) want it bone stock unless the original parts also come with the car (ie: suspension, exhaust, intake). Anyway, for what's available it looks like $55-60k is the number. One Arena Red with 24k just topped out at $51k on eBay with a buy-it-now of $54,500.

You may have a very long search ahead. Upgrading some dead shocks really isn't seen by most as a modification, and fewer still keep worthless parts around.

Good luck to you on your search

Actually not a difficult thing to find a 10-30k mile car with original shocks, mufflers, and intake. I'd say more than half I've seen are all original. Two that are at dealers are PCA member owned and have some mods, but the original parts are included. Just a matter of finding the right combination of condition and price... Sorry to OP for sending us in another direction, though it is related. Back to the original program...

I've been reading here since before the member reset and it has been my experience that very, very few people have sought out a car with up to 20K miles and no mods. The mods are an improvement and are reversible and are the first thing done to a car for the vast majority of owners...at least the ones that post here.

It would make sense if a person was buying the car for some collectability factor but why would they want it with so many miles then? 20K is far too many for a collector...especially when you can still get them with under 5K.

I do not intend to demean your choices...just saying that it has been my experience that the combination you seek is not a common one based on posts here.

Edit - I saw your post - I stand corrected...had no idea that so many cars existed without upgrades.

I've only been here for 7 years, so I'm still a "new guy". My objective is a low mile example that will evolve from a "collection car" into a driver. Any mods I want to do myself as my ownership in the car continues. I've had enough Porsches and have done it both ways. Bought a fully modified car (964) and a bone stock new car (997) and a few in between. I've had the most fun with the unmodified car that I can then tweak as I want and return to stock if not happy with the results (done that before). Whether it has 20k or 30k miles doesn't make much difference to me, just looking for that pampered example. Feels like the majority of the 20k ish cars are unchanged. Driven for 5 or 10 years when "new" and then put away or only taken out on sunny weekends. Most of the cars available online with low miles have had no changes, so that's what I've been referencing. We will see...

I guess you'll find out exactly how long it takes to find what you're looking for, in that case.

Best of luck to you

I have to agreee with RonCT...most of the low-mile cars I have seen have been bone stock or very, very close. I prefer my cars bone stock too, but would not hesitate buying a car with an improved suspension. I think a mint sub 20K mile car should be about $55K unless it is a special color or has fantastic options. Some may bring more, but it will take a very long time to find the right buyer.

RonCT why don't you sticky your old thread to the top of the 993 board and lock it so no one can reply.

That way when someone is selling a pristine C2s for 50k you can be the first to know?

Regarding Sully's '98 C2S described above, I have to agree. It was stellar!

I think you have to define "big catch". I think that there are several here interested in this car at $60k +. $80k, well no. So just depends what "big catch" means in this case.

We would probably argue about who contacted him first. Only he knows that. I sent an PM to him the day he posted pics when HE bought it, long before this thread. Others may have too.

But for me the sushi is beginning to turn sour on this one. Especially when I think of this car going to a certain specialty dealer so he can mark it up $20k.

Its a shame when sellers screw around like this. I feel for you Mr S.

Just put the car on Ebay and set the reserve. Dicking around like this only serves to alienate potential buyers.
