Default Temporary fix for scuffed door-pocket edge.........>

One or more former owners of my 993 was heavy-footed getting in/out of the car.

This is a small item, but something I see every time I get in or out. While looking for a more permanent fix I decided to make an aesthetic low-cost attempt to buy time.

A couple before pictures:

In the past I have used Self-Gripping Vinyl Edge Trim w/ metal core on other garage-related projects. I took some measurements and sourced some single-finger-gripping edge from McMaster-Carr here: http://www.mcmaster.com/#trim-molding/=e6ddn2

The single-gripping-finger hooks over the existing trim on the carpeted side. I wanted a smooth interior edge, which is why I didn't use a dual-gripping-finger.

The cost for this trim was $1.24/foot and each door pocket is approx. 15" long.

Final (for now) product:

I like it so much that I would use this material as a cover to prevent damage on a new door-pocket. With a little more effort you could make this work for the entire edge including the armrest storage edge.

Nice fix. Gives it a finished look.

Dang, I think I would cut another piece for the other side, install it and leave it at that. Looks great!

Thanks! The other side will be going on this weekend so they match..... and to protect it from passengers. :-)

Looks like it came that way. Nice job. I would do the other side and not bother replacing.

That actually looks very nice!

I have had good success fixing the same issue with a vinyl repair kit. You smear some goop on it, apply a piece to give it texture and heat it with the small iron provided. Worst case, if you don't like the result you can just put your covers over it.

Thanks. I'll have to look for a vinyl repair kit, which is an option I hadn't thought of.

Cheers
