Default 993 PPI results

i had a PPI done on a houston area 993 cab at rennsport the other day. man what an eye opener. georgeous car, but needs several thousand dollars worth of engine work ( top end valve job ), AND has rust bubbling up under the windshield header. i'm way glad i took fellow rennlister's advice on the PPI provider. those guys are great -- looked at the car as if it were going to be their own. the search continues...

A PPI is definitely an important step in any purchase. Glad your mechanics found out what needs to be done.

Wow, dodged a bullet on that one. Sounds like money well spent (on the PPI)!

I have just purchased a car that failed a PPI. It also needed a valve job. The seller has paid for a valve job at a terrific Indy shop. While the engine was out and apart I followed the advice of RLer's and replaced a bunch of parts. The car is now much better than the car I would have purchased had it passed the PPI. Both things that you mentioned are fixable. In the case of the valve job, it is a betterment, assuming that the improved guide material is used, and why wouldn't they? If you like the car and the seller realizes he will have to pay for what repairs are needed, it could be the best outcome you could wish for.
The only problem with buying a 993 is that the fun of looking for one is over...Cheers.....Chris

LOL, I'm the 2nd owner. I've had it for just over 10 years. I keep telling my wife that when we get old, we'll be the cute, little old couple, with the cool old Porsche.

Good luck in your search. Hold out and get the one that you want. Or at least one that is sound and has the basics. You'll have fun adding the "necessities".

I tried to get him to sell it to me a couple months ago when I was looking for a silver Targa. Not only did he refuse, he taunted me by posting a bunch of cool pictures of his Targa in my WTB thread.......heartless.
