Default remove engine insulation pad

Anyone remove the insulation pad from their engine compartment?
Was the sound level higher in the car afterwards?
thanks for submitting your experiences.

Yes, sound level is definitely louder. Not dramatically so, but noticeably.

I would imagine that it would allow for more engine heat to transfer to the cabin as well.

That hasn't been my experience. There's still a lot of padding/insulation back there. Plus, unless you're sitting in a traffic jam, the engine bay doesn't really get that hot. I've touched the rear deck area and it's no different temp than the rest of the interior. YMMV.

I've got a drilled box, RSR mufflers, and cat bypass pipes (so my car is pretty loud already) and the difference for me inside the cabin was very minimal. Plus the engine compartment looks much better.

I removed mine when I dropped the engine for a clutch change a few years back. It may be somewhat louder inside but definately not obnoxious. Along with RSRs and an open airbox, I feel the interior sound level is what a 911 should be. Like already mentioned, the engine bay looks so much cleaner without it.

Yup, I did it a few months ago and am glad I did. Cleaner look and don't ever have to worry about it falling down. I have LPMM 2 inch bypass, drilled box, wevo black pillow motor mounts and rennline rear subframe solid mounts...so, a lot of added noise over stock. The sound pad didn't have much impact IMO, all these items on my car add a little bit in their own way...put them all together and you know from the moment you fire it up that you are not in a stock car but as others have said, it's what a 911 should sound like!

I have had it at a coule track days this summer and don't notice any added cabin heat.

Hi There

My sound pad is in the process of removing itself, so while my engine is out I shall help it on it's way. You can buy thin heat reflector or even paint if heat seep is a worry.
