Default Squeaky Clutch Pedel

What lubricant should I use to stop my squeaky clutch. When I used bearing grease, it weaken the CABLE BRACKET (white part in the picture) and it finally broke. After re-hauling the system, I've gotten this annoying noise while depressing on the clutch.

WD-40 works for about 3 months or so. Finally, I disassembled the whole thing and replaced the bushing & kinematic levers & regrease.

Axl911 what grease did you use? And how long has it been since you've re-greased it?

Thanks,

Ken

I used the same grease I used when replacing the clutch. Optomoly High Pressure or something like that. It was a high pressure grease used for metal bushing.

How about that sticky goopy stuff that comes with Chris Walrod's control arm bushings? that stuff would probably last a few lifetimes, as long as you could apply it where it needs to go.

I use plain white lithium grease. Seems to last at least a few years.

I also used an Advance Auto white lithium grease (as you can see from the photo) and I believe it wasn't aggreable to that material. What brand did you use?

I get a sound from under the clutch pedal, but it's more like a grauk i.e. lower frequency than a squeak. Is this typical?

Based on the numerous threads on the complaint, yes.

I've already flushed the clutch system with no results.

As a first step, I will be replacing my clutch master and slave cylinders along with the hydraulic hose this winter. If that doesn't solve the "grawk", then its the pressure plate showing its young age. While I'm in there, I'll clean and lube the whole pedal assembly.

Forgot the 2nd part of the question....I did this 3 years ago, and it has been fine since.

I see the PET shows that replacement bushings are available. What are they made of?

Are you sure its coming from the clutch pedal area? 90% of the time clutch squeaks are simply a slave cylinder that needs a replacement. Its a cheap part and not too bad to replace

Some feedback now that I have the old clutch slave cylinder off to replace it with a new one.

Eighteen months ago, I drained/flushed the clutch hydraulic fluid with fresh fluid.

Just two weeks ago as I was draining the system again for component replacement, the hydraulic fluid for the clutch came out black.

Since I am cleaning my whole system, I also drained all of the fluid from the hydraulic fluid reservoir so that I can remove it and wash it out thoroughly.

To empty the reservoir, I drained hydraulic fluid from a few brake calipers. Note, that same fluid has been in there far longer and was replaced prior to taking ownership of my 993...yet it drained out of the calipers cooking-oil-clear in comparison.

So what is causing the hydraulic fluid in the clutch system to turn black? Incompatible rubber hose, or moisture absorption? Note that moisture can be absorbed through rubber hoses and hydraulic fluid being hygroscopic, absorbs water.

I disassembled the old clutch slave cylinder. There was absolutely no scuffing of the piston or cylinder bore. In fact, internally, it looked new. The piston could have had more bearing surface over its length. The remaining hydraulic fluid within the clutch slave cylinder bore and piston had black paste on them. No leakage as the inside of the boot was bone dry.

I'll drain the fluid a year after I install the new components to see if the condition repeats itself. With a new clutch master cylinder and rubber hose, all clutch system parts will have been replaced.
