I not only love the look but would get a lot of use out of the storage compartments. When we go on wine tours in the finger lakes the missus tries to buy every bottle of wine in the whole state! We have bottles stuffed in every possible place.....

Phil: Good move. I have often thought my RSD would be more practical if the top were hinged. It was a bitch to install mine and I'm not that interested in reworking it. So, I'm really interested in your progress. You going with wood, alum, or fiberglass? The wood RSD is HEAVY!

I have a factory RSD, but I've always thought a cargo net strung behind the seats and attached to the floor would actually be better. The compartments are hard to get in to from inside or outside of the car and the shelf is too high to really be useful. Can someone show me a pic of their cab without the RSD? Would I gain much room?

Denise, do you mean pics of the actual rear seats or no seats and no RSD? If latter, you'll have to cover metal frame with something.

I'm still waiting until the RSD commands crazy premiums like Sport Seats before I sell mine.

Isn't the height the same as the seat backs folded down?

Rear seatbacks don't fold down in cabs.

Default I did the "RSD" back in 1998....

I bought rear seat delete taken from a car with a dark blue interior. I had my interior shop redo it in matching leather and factory carpet. I did a mod to activate the storage compartment interior lights and electric locks. I also eliminated the goofy ridge down the middle and the hoops.
Then I made a mat (with a sewn on Porsche emblem) out of extra carpet I bought.
RSD Benefits:
More useful than the rear seats.
Lighter weight.
A real two seater (carpool lanes)
Looks much better (opinion)

3 years ago, we got 27 bottles in the car PLUS all my wife's luggage after a week in Monterey. The boxes fit across the top of the RSD, plus they were stuffed everywhere there was a nook or a cranny.

Maybe we'll replenish before the Rennsport Reunion.

Yes, I'm thinking no seats and no RSD. It's Ok as a shelf, but the compartments are a pain. I'm just wondering what I will find if I remove my RSD... I guess it's not that hard to do, I could try it and see what I find!
