Default New thread about KBB pricing

Moderators, feel free to close my other KBB thread since it was hijacked.
I just simply wanted to share with others what I consider good news about our 993 pricing. For those afraid about their state's taxes going up, no need to respond. I'm sorry you live in a state that utilizes KBB pricing as their sole criteria in raising your taxes. I feel that many who have invested heavily into their 993s will be interested in this. It's been about a year since I last checked and not only has the KBB site completely changed but my '95 cab with 52,000 miles went UP dramatically to $38,000 in 'private party' good condition. Now I don't expect that price in today's times but I am ultra pleased that KBB recognizes our cars as something so special. It is a tool for selling and potentially for insurance issues. For those that have higher mileage cars, they were always much lower priced in the past and hopefully they changed to the upside for you as well. Interested owners can check here www.kbb.com and don't forget to punch in your mileage and options. My intent is to bring a to your face and not to upset anyone.

I was pleased at the value based on my car! No problems here. As previously noted, any data out there that may help somone get decent value in the case of an insurance claim is good.

Woah, my '95 with 29K miles came in at $39,200. Now thats more like it. Not sure if Tx uses KBB to determine transfer tax but I'm happy I bought mine last year and only paid tax on $15K.

Should help to counter those tire kickers and their lowball offers.

While the overall KBB numbers are better for coupes, their biggest flaw (in my opinion) is that they still value cabs over coupe by about 10%. In fact the opposite is true; hence a 20% margin of error on cabs.

May have something to do with the higher MSRP which is factored into the valuation.

OP-I only went to your original thread today for the first time and posted the results of the search on my car on your thread. I was pleasantly surprised but know that I could never get the amount of $ they suggest that I could get for the car.

Tonight I also went to Edmunds.com to check out their suggested prices for my car. What a disparity!!! My main concern for the value of my car would be for insurance purposes in the case of a theft or an accident that basically totaled the car. I would sure hope that my insurance coverage would be for the KBB price as opposed to Edmunds.

I just did a further search on Edmunds for a 96 993 turbo. They suggest a trade in price of $28,000, a private party sale of $31,500 and dealer retail of $37,000.

I think I will ignore Edmunds prices, or perhaps ask them to find me a turbo for under $40,000 LOL!!!

I'm happy that mine is "worth" more than I paid for it back in '04. I have no plans to sell though, so I suppose its a moot point.

Default hmmmmmmm

Well mine came out $34,000 plus.
But I could sell it today in Sweden for almost $48 to $52 and change.
Getting close for what I paid 17 years ago-Nice...........!

thanks. Its very good news because as you said its used for many things - moreso by those less familiar with specialty cars but it affects us. My 97 with 40,000 miles in excellent condition came up at 46K. Probably a little high even but certainly better then last time I looked.

Yeah, obviously Edmunds needs a reality check with prices like you mention. Makes their opinions and pricing advice rather sketchy for other cars as well if that is their 'expert' opinion.
KBB was like them a few years ago and I do give them credit for listening and adjusting their 993 pricing. Their 'across the board' $15,000 - $20,000 range back THEN was just as out of touch as Edmunds.
