I did the oil cooler fan bypass today and used a switch that may be a better choice than the 944.613.235.00 switch mentioned in the pcarworkshop website. I used a 928 613 240 00 This switch needed no modification and snapped right in the center console. It's plain black. I bought a used one on ebay a while back and it comes clipped into a larger piece that makes it look too large to fit into the center console. Unsnap it from the outer piece and it clips directly into a port in the center console. No modification needed.
I'm going to look around for someone to make a fan symbol out of vinyl to put on it. I'll keep everyone posted on what I find.

Thanks for sharing. I used another 944 switch that but forgot the number. However, I posted it when I did the mod 6 about 8 months ago.

I decided to use the 944 defrost switch (944 613 117 00) but need help on the wiring. Which connectors do I use on the switch? Looks like there's a light on the switch as well!

One of our rennlisters took the switch into a nail salon. They are good at painting designs in really tiny things. He showed her a picture of the fan symbol and she painted it into the switch. Brilliant.

If I had to do it again, I'd use goo gone to wipe off the hazard triangle and try the nail salon trick

I dig the hazard because of its activation light.
