Default Oil pressure gauge

I have noticed my oil pressure gauge reading at 4 bars this Summer. It has always read 4.5 bars at highway speeds. I don't know if the 100 degree heat might reduce pressure since the oil might be thinner at higher temps. Guessing!!! This is my first Summer with the car since I purchased it last Dec. Oil level hasn't changed. Anything to be concerned about.

you nailed it... oil pressure will vary depending on the actual oil viscosity and temp.
no worries, go drive

It does. You can confirm that with the following observation...

When you first start and the oil is at ambient temperature (thicker), your oil pressure for a given RPM will always be higher than it is when the oil is at operating temperature (thinner).

Have a look the next time you start it up and take it for a drive.

Craig,

I assume you're using 15W50 ? Or ?
In Texas, I'd seriously consider removing the engine tray to allow extra cooling from underneath.

Yes. I use 15w50 mobil 1 and the engine tray has been removed. I have not noticed it raising above 4 bars even at start up with the oil cold. I'm guessing it is a glitch with the gauge or the oil sender. I will get the oil pressure checked at my next oil change.

FYI, with temps in my area of 85F, my oil pressure needle at start-up is just above the 5 bar mark, but touching it.

Maybe others can relate their observations.
