forgot to add, I recently drove a Panamera for 2 days and was very disappointed in it.
A gentleman at work let me drive his new S a couple of weeks ago. He sought me out because he's seen my in my car at work. 'Hey, wanna drive a 4 door Porsche?' This is his first p car.
Throttle response was OK. It felt solid, well built, you could feel the quality in many ways. But it is just not for me.

OT-Dave, that car in your avatar is beautiful. This is really why I posted. I just had to comment on your car. I love looking at!

Thanks for the compliment...it took me 2 years to build, and it's like my child now. That and the 993 own my garage...my 2011 Audi has to sit on the driveway.

UPDATE:

The Pan 4S she looked at is a new 2011...which basically is now a year old car since they came out last Fall, of course. The MSRP is $117K. She offered $105K cash sale (10% off MSRP). The dealer said no . Isn't that ridiculous of them?

In a word: NO!

Porsche is selling a lot more cars this year than last; I think 40% more. The Panamera (& Cayenne) are literally selling like hotcakes.

Ed- Thx for the quick responce. I did, by the way, just get off the phone with another local P dealer. He said that an offer 10% off MSRP for what is now a 1 year old car was not out of line at all. I Would still be interested in other's thoughts as well!

That very well could differ from dealer to dealer and month to month at a given dealer. Money talks, so shopping is probably worth the effort.

Are u in California (avacadoland)? Out there maybe a lot of these cars are selling but here in the Midwest not many new P cars prolly are being bought in this economy would be my guess. A cash offer of 10% off seems reasonable here

I can only go by what PCA quotes monthly as US sales. I do live in SoCal and Panameras are very common now. I'd guess in the NE and the Sunbelt as well. Midwest could be different. The Panamera is a successful car for Porsche.

Have a couple of neighbors w/ Panamera's, both S models. Pulls like a freight train when accelerating and handling is very good for a large 4 door. Creature comforts are very nice and the feel of the buttons and hardware are first rate. Finish quality is world class, Porsche got that right in their first offering. Styling is OK and stands out in the crowd of BMW's, Audi's and MB's in my hood. I would consider buying one!

Nope
Deliveries of the 911 slumped 35 percent to 1,666 vehicles. Demand for the Boxster roadster and the hard-top Cayman version fell 23 percent to 1,221 cars. The Cayenne, Porsche’s best- selling model, jumped 16 percent to 5,483 SUVs. Deliveries of the Panamera coupe rose 2.5 percent to 2,352.

I followed one home from work today and I just can't get over the rear styling. Too bad as Aston sure got it right so it is possible to make them good looking. Obviously though it doesn't bother everyone as much as it does me, we do have quite a few Panameras around here.

I have think that 10% off list for what is almost a year old car is pretty fair. Keep looking if the local dealer won't budge, I'm sure another will.

Cayenne sales are up because there weren't any '10s to sell the first half (maybe 2/3, in reality) of the year as the redesigned '11 was due. Compare the volumes from, say, calendar years '05/'06/07.
