Default My new to me 993

Spent 3 months looking without RL, spent 2 weeks looking with RL and found my car. Couldn't have done it without all the resourses here on RL.

Few issues I could use help with:

I've searched the forums and I think it is just the aluminum corrosion issue? Its make a black paint bubble up a bit as well. It is on the driver door near the mirror.

This just looks like surface rust, easy fix?

Also the exterior door handle gaskets are both cracked and falling apart, is this hard to fix?
I think this maybe the part number 993-537-631-00-OEM and 993-537-621-00-OEM

After a drive, I though the engine fan should come on the cool the engine, I've only have it come on once after and not for very long.

Finally, the passenger side storage pocket is cracked from the screw down about 3 or so inches enough to see light. I assume someone makes this part?

Thanks,
Greg

I'm definitely not the one to answer questions about fixes, but congratulations on your beautiful car!

Great looking 993!

I have not replaced my handle gaskets yet but those are the right part #'s, you will need 2 of each from what I can tell.

I have not seen the corrosion on the door frame like that but I would get it checked out. Same with the rust by the seam seal, should not be to hard to have all of the old rust removed and resealed/painted.

The door pocket crack is real common, search and you will see some DIY fixes, other than that it is a new part at stupid prices.

Best of luck with it and congrats!!!

My passenger side fog light is cracked too. New replacements are wicked expensive from what I have seen. ~US$300 Each. PN's are 993.631.081.00 (Left) & 993.631.082.00 (Right) Pelican has them. Id look for a good used pair on ebay myself $300 each is a bit steep.

Congrats from a fellow polar silver owner! The engine fan only runs with the engine on since it is connected to the crank pulley with a belt.

Congrats, clean looking car.

That last picture worries me the most since that is affecting the actual frame/body of the car (talking about the area by the fender bolt, not the one closest to the camera) If that is rusting simply because there was a small opening in the outer sealer and it is rusting on the outside then not quite so serious but if it's coming from the inside out then things get worse quickly, kind of like to tip of an iceberg, there's more where that came from. Probably ought to get that seen to fairly soon to stop more damage.

That lip on the frame edge had gouges and looks to have either been pried on or had previous accident damage...?

I'm bring it down to automotive associates here in CT on Thursday. From what I can tell, something rubbed off some of the sealer/paint and it is just surface rust. I took out the front mat and looked at close as I could to that area and didn't see anything.

oem fogs are $216 and change from Sunset. Yes, still expensive...but if you like them-like I do, it's worth it.

car looks great, welcome aboard.

Congratulations! +993 on investigating and tending to the rust issues.
Sunset Porsche in Beaverton Oregon has pretty competitive prices for parts.
