Any links? Where I live (Texas), walmart rarely carries 15w50. So the only choice would be Autozone, advance auto parts, or napa which usually cost $9 a qt here Even if I were to do the oil+filter deal it will be over $100 with 2 filters I might or might not use....

Funny, a man exercises his first amendment rights, voices his opinion and votes with his wallet -- and you call him names and accuse him of not understanding the free market. Funny.

We are supposed to guess where you live in Texas and do the search for cheaper local oil source for you? That takes the cake.

I'm talking about online. How much is M1 15w50 locally for you?

AutoZone and Pep Boys currently have some deal going for $30-$35 for 5 qts. and an oil filter. I bought Motul and had it delivered for about $8/qt. Check eBay too. Lots of deals out there. Or just wait until Wal-Mart starts stocking it again soon.

15W50 still has the same formulation according to their latest product guide (at least as far as zinc and phosphorus content goes):

Holy **** - this thread sure went sideways. Just wanted to give a heads up to save a little coin. Not that crazy about WM either, but stocking up & saving some cash one trip a year or so is no big deal. Rather spend it on long term mods than short term consumables anyway.

hmm, everybody got up in arms about the SM version of 15w-50 being crappy. It was all over the place a few years ago. Who knows.

The Mobil-1 15W-50 is formulated with a Phosphorus Level of 1200 PPM and a Zinc Level of 1300 PPM.
This formula is excellent for air/oil cooled engines and provides extra protection for wear.

In the less than two years since having to buy Mobil 1 15W-50, I've paid anywhere from $19 to $23.50 per 5 US quart jug...at WalMart.

That works out to anywhere from $3.80 to $4.70 per US quart.
