Default Substance under trunk mat

Owner of the 993 I'm interested in send me photos and this one stood out, is this putty material normal?

I would double-check that the car hasn't had front-end damage. On my car (and the other 993's I've seen), there's very little body-colored paint at the front -- just primer and seam sealer. That car looks a little too finished compared to what came out of the factory. I could be wrong, or it might be different for silver. I think there's been some threads on this so try a search.

993 trunks do look different based on the color. That said, the overspray shown under the 'frame rail' looks a bit odd. Just a bit.

I'd want to see the front panel under the plastic trim piece.

Pics of my luggage compartment. A lighter coat of paint is normal in certain areas.

Agree.

The pics seem to show an unmolested trunk. If you can get a pic of the area forward of the trim panel, that would be great.

This is what I was getting at -- check out these pics, and you can see the many areas where primer is showing. A fully-painted front trunk can mean accident repair. Or it might mean nothing. But worth investigating.

My Polar Silver trunk looks identical to those pics. Down to the color of the sealant.
