Default Replacing headlight on 95 993 - level of difficulty?

I need to replace the right headlight on my 1995 993. Is this considered a difficult job as far as having to remove lots of trim, panels, components etc.? Any tricks I need to keep in mind attempting this? Special tools? How much does a replacement headlight cost?

Thanks in advance.

easy there is a step by step diy on p-car.com and it shows how to clean them as well.
There is a quick release under the front hood. Your owners manual describes this process.
have fun!!

Should take less than one minute if you're just swapping light housings.

Quite easy. Just release the headlight via the lever on the right side inside the boot, and withdraw the headlight. Push locking lever down slightly and unclip locking lever from lock. Rotate Locking Lever to aft position, headlight assembly should move forward and up. Grasp headlight assembly and rotate Locking Lever to 6 o'clock position, pull headlight assembly forward up and out of headlight well. Take care not to scratch your paint.

No trim or anything else to remove. When you replace it, start with the lever in the 6 o'clock position, replace the headlight, push in gently to seat it, and lock it in place by returning the lever to its starting position.

There are more detailed instructions in your owner's manual.

As said, removing the headlights takes less time then putting the carpet back in place after you flip the lever.

Removing the lens from the headlight is also super easy. Get a big flat bladed screwdriver, & work off the prongs holding the lens on. You got to work around the lens pulling the lens off as you pry, or they will snap back on. Once you get 3-4 off the grove it just pops off. To reinstall, just pop the new lens in.

Should take about 20min total the first time.

Thanks much for all the informative and helpful posts. Yes, I'm just replacing the lighting source (bulb) not the lens or any other component so should be easy...

back before I got my HIDS I replaced both my bulbs in the Meijer parking lot at 10pm in 5 minutes. The bulbs were $4 each. Very easy 1/10 difficulty.

You might want to replace both L & R so their colors will match.

R&R is easy, while you have them out, you may want to clean the inside, vacuum out any dirt, wipe things down etc...

no special tools necessary.

are you replacing the lense or the entire housing? Only the lense is substantially cheaper then the entire housing.

I think I paid $90 per lense, a while ago, but that was several years, I am not sure what the current prices are.
