bingo.

as already stated, prices on these pieces have gone up over the last year and won't be going back down.

fair price IMO. Not that my opinion on the seller's price matters, by the way. He could ask $1M, not my call.

As was said before, this is from 6 years ago. It is also not for the same item. A custom ordered 996 shift **** in cashmere modified to fit a 993 is not an aluminum/leather 993 ball ****.

I feel that Carnewal provides a good baseline for specialty parts prices, so today as per Gert's site:

Aluminum/Leather 993 Shifter - €420 ~ $594.55
Aluminum/Leather 993 Hand Brake Lever - €435 ~ $615.94

And just for fun,
Aluminum/Leather '02 996 shifter modified to fit a 993 - €270 ~ $382.29

Prices for original 993 specialty items were never cheap, and they just keep climbing. Not that my opinion was asked for or matters, but the OP has it priced right.

Headlight lenses, at least the left one, have more than doubled, in less than a year - if you can find them. So, if that was the price in 2005 - it's not too surprising that the price has increased. Last year, when ordering a bunch of necessary parts from Sunset, I asked about a 3 spoke steering wheel with airbag and was given a price. When I asked about its availability four months later the price had increased by approx$275. I was told it was due to the yearly price increase that Porsche issues.

I bought a house in Beverly Hills, CA in 1977 for $200K. Good luck finding that house now for less than $2 million.

Prices change after years and years, unless maybe you're in Alabama. Could probably buy that entire state for about $200K

Awww... poor Porsche barely has two pfennigs to rub together. Issuing these slight increases in already low-priced parts are probably the only way they can keep their doors open. [/sarcasm]
