I'm one for OEM, too, even if more expensive (within reason). I could be interested if US and a complete kit. I want something turnkey where I have all that I need, and I just install. I will double check with my dealer, The Porsche Exchange.

Me too. If 100% complete, OEM, new in box, US, etc.

You guys are going to have to move a pin in the harness/plug, but very close to plug and play.

Great price, I think I paid 3x's as much.

OK, first of all I have nothing to do with this transaction, I haven't talked to the seller, I've only read through this thread. However, I thought that I'd help TheBen out here a little bit and get the names of the people who have expressed interest in one place.

So far we have:

1. TheBen
2. luial
3. Carlos993
4. il pirata
5. jaholmes
6. gonzilla
7. civerson4
8. fineito
9. mrsullivan

This are people who are interested in a 100% new plug and play kit.

I left off mpgandco and vjd3 because you guys expressed interest at $900/set and that was just an idea from me wondering how low we could get the guy if we got more buyers.

As it stands now, we're one away from 10 people, so according to TheBen's post #18, if we get one more, we should be able to get them for $1100/set. That's where I'd like to be at most. Just putting that out there!

I'm still wondering if the seller has room to discount more if we get more RL'ers on board. Hmmmmmm....

I'll be number 10 for $1,100. Assuming, of course, that they are a complete kit. I'll pm TheBen.

Morning everyone - this is direct from the seller:

"Hello, I am told by my distributor these are direct fit for 97-98 models but will require a wiring harness and controller for earlier 993's. These will only work on USA/Canadian version cars. My email address is all4ofus@vermontel.net. Thank you! Matthew Alldredge"

This is a link to the auction, of course we're getting a better price.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-G...Q5fAccessories

Matthew said he can send everyone an invoice direct. I will ask him what the discount is if we take more than 10 sets.

Hmmmm. I wonder what this means? Having a '96, I'm guessing I'd be in for additional expense. Anyone have any ideas on what this "wiring harness and controller" is?

I have an email in to Sunset.

Alas, nothing is ever as easy as it appears. That being said, I have a '97!

I can only imagine that this is a additional cable you need. The full kit is a controller that cable and the full headlight. Your current cable goes into the controller and from that controller a cable is needed going to the headlight. Again, in a full set this should be all included.

To my knowledge there is no difference for all 993 so it should fit from 95 to 98. The challenging part is the controller / ballast as they tend to go bad. Porsche sells them for ~$700 per side if I recall correctly. I always got my spares from ebay etc as they also used in the earlier 996 and boxter. I usually pay little bit more than $100. This is the ballast you need.

Below is a complete list of parts needed per the service technical bulletin. I believe the parts are needed for any 993 year not just 1996. It appears the seller is only offering the headlight assembly itself. The controller alone is $414 from my local p-car dealer (this includes a 10% discount). I did not ask if a kit is available that includes everything but the headlight assembly as it would be getting too expensive for me.

Installation Kit - 000 044 900 15
Single parts of the kit:
993 631 051 02 Headlight - left
993 631 052 02 Headlight - right

000 044 900 13 Cable adapter
993 631 195 00 Plastic bracket (control unit)
993 631 196 00 Base bracket (control unit)
993 631 193 02 Control unit
999 500 042 02 Pop-rivet nut
999 190 119 30 Pop-rivet (4mm)
900 075 355 02 Bolt M6 x 16
999 919 098 02 Torx bolt
