Default Another tire thread...

I am buying tires (aren't we all always buying tires?) and looking for feedback on a specific group of tires. If I'm lucky, the following link will show the ones that are being considered:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSe...=54300&tab=All

In any case, here are the details
Car - C2
Wheels - MY02
Front size - 225/40-18
Rear size - 265/35-18
Suspension - H&R RS Clubsport Coilovers
Driving - some daily driving, and about 3-6 track events per summer. May include some wet weather.
I'm not considering R rubber at this time.
I have 3 track days under my belt, and I'm not racing, just learning and having fun.

Tires under consideration
Bridgestone Potenza RE-11
Yokohama Advan Neova AD08
Bridgestone Potenza S-02 A
Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position
Bridgestone Potenza RE-760

As a point of reference, I ran Bridgestone Potenza RE-760s on the car last as a low cost experiment, and they were fine. They kept me on the road, and they've lasted decently (all 3 track days and about 5k road miles) but they are now done.

Thanks!

i like those two and have also had good success with Bridgestone REO50As and Hankook Ventus V12s for applications similar to yours.

check out the dunlop dirrezza sports, they seem to be GREAT tyres, but only available in NB sizing.

have fun

Add Dunlop Direzza Star Spec and Hankook R-S3 to the mix. Put these two in a hat along with Advan 008. Shake the hat. Pull out one. That's your answer.

Bridgestone, in my opinion, does not make a good enough tire for the money today. 11s are somewhat close, but not there.

Reddy,

according to most, the "new" Michelin Pilot Super Sport is the end all for high performance track ready tires for the street. New compound with warranty for 30k.
Unfortunetly their rear sizing is strange. Only offering 285-35 in 18 inches for the largest size?

I like Pirelli p-zero's for what it is worth. I have had them on a couple of p-cars and my ex-Saleen.

I run the Dunlop Direzza's and Yoko AD08's on mine - both great tires in my opinion.

Another vote for the AD08. More durable than expected when used on the track.

seems like many say the "best" tire is the Michelin if price is not a limiting factor. lots of good choices mentioned so far - One tire many of us are happy with and the price is reasonable - Sumitomo IIIs. great tire for the price. I've been pleased with mine. not going to win Le Mans on them - but for the street - lots of satisfied customers. And I've tracked mine a couple of times with no problem.

AD08 is a AWESOME tire. Great on the track, & great on the street. It also has the "fastest" lap times in test. Problem with our cars is the sizes, it's hard to find the proper F/R sizes, you either get the front or the rear. That narrows the field a bit.

When I was tire shopping, my list was a lot like yours. I then looked at price, proper tire sizes (have C4) & what other cars are running in my auto-X class. For me the 08's were the best for what I do, & almost the cheapest. Since getting the AD08's I have won every Auto-X event this year, & have been faster then the faster class a couple of times, even beating a few GT3's & 2011 Turbo. The car STICKS! I just throw it into corners, & it holds!

On the street, they are quite, smooth, have awesome turn in & feel. So far good in the rain.
