Slightly OT: Mass emissions

gentlemen, removing your bulb or covering it with a piece of tape is quite frankly bush league at best, and dangerous at worst.
The light alerts you to problems with your vehicle. I know everybody would rather stick their head in the sand and pretend their car never has any problems, but what if you have an error besides the SAI?
If you are going to run with the light on/bulb out, at least put a scanner on the thing regularly.
Further, I'm completely confused why no one can get the obd readiness monitors to set. I disconnected the battery about 200 miles ago (maybe 3 weeks max), and the readiness monitors were all set within about 100 miles of normal every day driving.

Quad, I believe that Exclamation Mark will illuminate anyway, alerting you to the fact that something's wrong. Local Autozones and other stores all give scanners to read OBD2, so that's not a problem.

actually it doesn't. The check engine light does not kick on the central warning light in my experience.
either way, the correct answer here is to fix the problem that causes the cE light, or at least get that sai bypass.

Not in Mass he won't......even if he did he won't ask...they simply don't care. If it is 15 years old it is basically a safety inspection (lights/horn/etc.).

Exactly, Ma they will fail you for a non working airbag as it falls into the safety category. However since there is no real way to check, and unplugged light will pass fine.
