Although I am not sure what bad lifter sounds like, this sounds like my ticking, which was caused by bad plug wires. I can see spark by the lower valve cover as the engine was running. It was on/off type. It is arcing to the valve cover bolt. I moved the wire for now, but new set is going in soon.
