Can someone please let me know if that's a bad lifter sound. I do not hear the ticking sound when the engine is cold, only when the engine is hot I get ticking sound. I'm using mobile1 15w-50.

I'll be at the PAG restoration facility in a few weeks and a few questions will be asked of the machinist in the engine room and their M64 3.6 refurbishing practices.
I'm guessing there is a "burning bush" level machine shop services right here in good ole N. America, say Mr. Steve Weiner in Oregon ...(Spotted in Washington whilst sleep walking- duh!)
P.S., can anyone confirm German company INA as the 993's OEM for lifters?

For those who are mechanically inclined (& interested), look carefully at the Step 6 picture and note the uneven wear on the cam lobe.
See how the left side is polished and the right side almost looks untouched?? This is quite common now and indicative of QC issues with the rocker arms from the Factory. The pad on the rocker arm was not ground parallel with the rocker shaft bore and this manifests itself with excess cam lobe wear on one side or the other.
Brand new factory ones exhibit the very same problem and that's why we haven't bought new ones in years unless they are dished or cupped. Instead, we regrind them correctly to ensure even wear and pressure distribution across the face of the cams & rockers. The payoff is reduced wear and longer component life (providing the proper oil is used).
We do provide this service to other shops as well as individuals doing their own work.
Mike credited the illustrious John Dunkle for the great pics and I regret I didn't see this while he was undertaking this project since I would have been happy to help.

Although I am not sure what bad lifter sounds like, this sounds like my ticking, which was caused by bad plug wires. I can see spark by the lower valve cover as the engine was running. It was on/off type. It is arcing to the valve cover bolt. I moved the wire for now, but new set is going in soon.

What brand of plug wires are you replacing with?

No, mine was random hot or cold. If you peak in the wheel well in dark garage towards valve cover, you should be able to see the spark causing the ticking, if you have the same issue.

Yes, INA makes the lifters.

Beru set. 450 is well worth it. all wires marked, bundled together with wire holders as oem, have proper length on each end relative to each other, and have marking on each wire on each end. Frech can make some quality products (that's where it says it was made).

Where are you getting them from and what's the part number if you don't mind me asking. Thanks!
