Default Anyone have a 1996 NB with a factory rear spoiler?

Hi,

I'm looking for someone that have knowledge/pics of the factory installed rear spoiler for the NB Carrera. I have a C2 with that option specified (x62). The car currently has a 1996 Turbo S wing on it although it has been in an accident and I have no idea if that tail was factory.

Sounds like the person that ordered the car really wanted the turbo look but at a much lower cost. Anyway, the tail looks great but I really want to know what I have. Any help is appreciated.

Txs,
Drew

This is the factory installed rear spoiler - noted on my under hood label as X62.

PS It's also noted on my Certificate of Authenticity as Aero Kit II, Spoilers/Rockers.

Hi
The photo above is not a factory Turbo S rear spoiler,
I have a factory Turbo S rear spoiler on my Carrera, it has Porsche logo and part number on the inside top of the spoiler, it also has the a rubber seal across the spoiler near the latch.
There are many other tell tails, but that is the basics.
The carrera Aero kit also comes with the turbo front bumper.

Thanks,

Sorry dpowel, I thought he asked for pics of the factory installed rear spoiler for the NB Carrera specified as x62.

Did he want pix of a turbo rear wing?

As x62 is on my under hood label and my CoA shows my car has Aero Kit II, Spolier/Rockers i thought i had them - was i mistaken?

What type of front spoiler is this on my 993?

It just occurred to me that the basket handle was replaced because of the Turbo Tail in 1996.
Makes Sense?

X50type, it looks to me that your car does have the NB factory installed wing, but I thought it was the Aero Kit I. My understanding was the Aero Kit II was for WBs and included the Turbo S wing, which is different from yours. I believe your front spoilers are also part of the AeroKit I.

Here is a link to pictures of a car with what I know as the Aero Kit II.

Well now I'm confused. I have the exact same front and rear spoiler as the link posted by 97_993C2. Thanks!! Decoder says I have a NB but the C4S was a WB. I guess I have to measure the width to make sure the rear quarters haven't been replaced. Are there any other places the VIN is located on the body other than by the dash?

What does your front "grill" look like? If it has only one large opening, like x50type's, then it is a NB one. If it has a large opening with 2 small openings on either side, like the C4S then it is a WB bumper cover and someone has replaced it in the past if you truly have a NB. What do the sideskirts, if you have them, look like? If they look like the C4S, then I would suspect you actually have a WB. The Aero Kit II if I recall correctly is basically the Turbo S front and rear spoilers.

My front grill has one large opening and two smaller ones on either side. No openings beside the lights as in the turbo. My car came with x61, x62 (front and rear spoilers), and x76 (rocker panels left and right). It looks exactly like the black C4S in 97_933C2's reply picture link. Not at all like x50type's car.

Currently I'm having the car detailed and I'll post some pics very soon. Thanks to all. It appears as I have Aero Kit II

97_993C2 Thanks for the link but, it clouds the issue rather than clarifying it.

Over the years i have searched for definitive info FROM Porsche [not owners or sellers, etc] on the different wing and spoiler configurations available as OE, including 993 by Streather, forums, etc. but failed. A typical example is dpowell clearly saying he has a 1996 Turbo S wing on his NB but there is no photograph!

As far as the x62 option is concerned i have never even found it mentioned anywhere in the list of the hundreds of options available for the 993 yet it is on my under hood label and my CoA refers to Aero Kit II; however, I hear CoA have been known to have mistakes.

I don't understand Neil Perry mentioning my photo was not of a Turbo S rear spoiler, I didn't claim it was! But thanks Neil - we all know now you have a factory Turbo S rear spoiler on your Carrera [which one is not specified], it has a Porsche logo and part number on the inside top of the spoiler, it also has the a rubber seal across the spoiler near the latch and even has many other tell tails, but that is the basics. Additionally, the carrera [which one is not specified] Aero kit also comes with the turbo front bumper.

Again, no photos but appreciate the input.

It looks to me like you have a NB 993 (no WB sideskirts, rear "S" badge notwithstanding) that a previous owner put a WB front bumper cover and Turbo S tail on. I don't/can't see any front spoiler.

Just to add to the confusion I found these 993 option codes in various lists on the internet.

E21 Aerokit 1B (forgot about the B) front & rear spoilers
E22 Aerokit 2B Front & rear spoilers and sideskirts

XD1 Aero II Turbo S front spoiler
XD2 Aero II Turbo S rear spoiler

Y75 Aerokit II front & rear spoilers

In spite of my memory failures as I get older, I am 99% sure that X50type has the Aero kit 1B option. I just don't know what the option code is.
Edit: In spite of my memory failures as I get older, I am 99% sure that X50type has the Aero kit 2B option as I see he has the sideskirts.

dpowell, where did you find that x62 was the option code for the rear spoiler? I was unable to find any reference to that code anywhere.
