Dan,

I called the dealer and got an email with the options on the car from Porsche. It was all in German.

X61 F Frontspoiler (front )
X62 F Heckspoiler (rear)
X76 F Schwellerverkleidungen (sides)

Unfortunately, this car was in an accident and was hit in the passenger side. Was trying to see if anyone else had some animal like mine and what the factory pieces would have been. The manuf. date was 01/96 if that helps.

Thanks so much for your fine investigative work on the great 993 spoiler question.
You have shown me it is more complicated than i thought, I note you too have been unable to locate the X62 option code in the usual lists!!
The side skirts your refer to on my car are listed on the under hood label as X76 - Flared Rocker Panels.
I also have X47, X58, X61, as well as X62, under Porsche Exclusive Options, but I cannot find anywhere, what these options were.

dpowell originally said he had a C2 but later sends some pix of a 993 with Carrera 4S on the rear and asks, 'now what do you think, guys'? This confuses me - do you have a C2 or C4S?
From the rear view of the C4S it is not clear to me what rear wing it is!

I would ask the same question as 97_993C3 - where did you find that the option code X62 for the rear spoiler?

not badged as a C4S - its badged 2S. I removed the badge weeks ago cause my investigation lead me to the fact that there were no 1996 C2S cars.

I called the dealer and they sent me a list of options that were ordered on the card. I ordered the CoA but was told it would be 4 weeks.

The car was ordered as a NB (so stated), however came with X61, X62, and X76. It also has M030, M220, and M224 and powered sport seats. Basically, someone wanted to really dress up this C2 and I wanted to see pics of other 1996 cars with these options. Not trying to confuse anyone just wanted to get the exact pieces to the puzzle.

Again, got option code was sent via the dealer from the German database just a few days ago. You should probably be able to get the same if you call. There was no fee.

I tried the various option decoders posted but none listed x61 or x62 so since I got this from Porsche - I'm going with that.

Thanks dp for the dealer info wrt the option codes - very useful.
But regretfully i am still confused about your 993. You say it is not badged as a C4S, however it looks as if one of the pix of the rear of the car shows a C4S badge - no?
You say it is now badged as a 2S, can't say i have ever come across one!
We live and learn.

The pic is badged as a Carrera S. I removed that because there was no S in 1996. Look again. Pic is clear to me. Anyway - my thoughts are I have more to the story.

To me dpowell's last photo shows NB rocker panels - there is no flare that would flow into the wider rear fenders of a WB. Also, from the second photo the rear fenders would be more horizontal/flatter if the car was a WB. The badge in that photo looks like "Carrera S" to me. I don't see any "4". To my eye the only thing WB on dpowell's car is the front bumper cover. Finally, the wing looks like a Turbo S one. The only other 993 wing that is similar is the one x50type's car, but that one is taller and the space between the two horizontal "blades" is greater.

This has all been very interesting to me, but I'm ready to give up.

97_993C2..... I give up too. I still don't know what dpowell's car is - nor do I care.

Interesting, I can recall reading that there was a Carrera NB version released in the USA and Japan that had the Turbo front bumper and rear Turbo S spoiler, this was a special version. I dn't know what script was on the rear spoiler, Carrera, 911 or 993. This is just to add to this conversation and not to upset anyone

Neil,

Where do you think you read about that?

x50type,

Listen dude you don't need to be rude. Sure I'm new here but I have not showed anyone disrespect. You kept asking questions and I delivered - then you don't care. There are lots of Porsche's out there with owners attempted to get down to the dirty. I'm one of em. I appreciate your input.
