Default New AC Button

I need new AC Module buttons like this one. Mine is still working but sometimes springs out; it also appears to have some nasty skin disease.
Does anyone know if these $0.50 buttons are available without the $1400 AC unit?

I don't think you can buy them without the whole unit. Maybe if you used thin double sided tape on the internal tab of the button it would be held in place on the unit receiving slit?

If I'm not mistaken there are a couple of shops around that rebuild the CC unit (which is not unique to the 993). You might want to dig around and find a rebuilder (I've seen rebuilts for sale on Ebay) and see if maybe they'd be willing to sell you a new button.

You may be right, but after carefully inspecting the button and the place where it lives in the AC module, it is not obvious me how the switch mechanism operates the AC contacts nor how it remains in place. The main components of the very small AC module button housing are two tiny bulbs and little else!
Appears to me that if the button breaks or is lost, the result will be no way of turning on the AC.
I could be wrong and am open to suggestions.

I have not taken one of these units apart but if it's like the 944/968 unit, the double button switch plugs into the PC board. You have to remove the clear faceplate after removing the hvac assembly from the dash. If that is how it is mounted, the dealer should be able to get the switch without having to buy the entire hvac assembly.

Thanks for the info, guys.

I checked with my local porsche dealer and have good news and bad news about the ac module.
The good news - the 2 round ***** are available as separate items, so are the 2 sliders.
The bad news - the push buttons are not available separately, they come with the unit.
The tiny bulbs for the push button illumination are not available separately either.

Even worse news - the present price of a new unit is................wait for it - nearly $2000.....!!

So i would suggest you treat your buttons with great respect, because if your AC buttons no work - no cooling.

Item # 170588403329......
But so far, no separate buttons.

2Many Cars - thanks for the info...
I had already contacted them, they said they don't have the buttons.
Incidentally, the porsche climate controller shown on their website is not the one for the 993 - it has a single button on the left.

Yeah I noticed that and just assumed it was a stock photo. Sorry it was a dead end.

Thanks tommyg - i checked with weekendrides, but again the usual answer, they don't have the ac buttons.
So it appears that if the button/s is lost or broken the only fix is a used module [$400 to $1300] or a new one [$1700 to $2000] - and i don't see how the ac can be turned on without them!
