my race day hauler
bicycle race that is.
Or maybe titled, rose among the thorns?
In a parking lot full of mini vans, pick up's, sport ute's, subi's and Saabs...I had the only Pcar with a bike rack on it.
The race is the Black Fly Challenge. It's a 40 mile destination race between two small Adirondack town's, Indian Lake and Inlet. The direction of the race changes every year. The combination of severe weather- record rains and winds, simply destroyed the seasonal use mountain roads that make up the bulk of the race course this year. The NYS DEC did all they could so they would be passable for the bike race. ATV's had to be used for emergency vehicles this year, as the "roads" were simply not passable for even 4 wheel drive trucks.
It is billed as a mountain bike race, but if you have the courage(or are stupid enough)a cyclocross bike is the fastest. In better conditions, the winner is usually just under 2 hours, this years winning time was 2:15.
Anyway, I've used the C4S for transport to every race this year. It certainly makes the to and from part lots of fun. Damn useful vehicles, these little 993's.
