Default Fog light replacement...

Has anyone any experience with these folks and their products? What exactly is the 'minor modification to US/Canada bumpers they mention?

Anyone know?

I have never bought from them, but I have from other Hong Kong based suppliers. I found that their products looked good but needed some work to get them to fit properly. Just minor shaving of seams. Seems like a good price ($230) for what you're getting. Go for it and let us know how it goes.

I have never seen this modification in person so a question...is there a piece that should go on the duct on the inside to direct the air flow onto the rotor? Or is the opening directional enough to do the job the way it is without further help, like from a diffuser...

Guess my question really is: are there parts missing which would account for the reduced price?

Are you switching to a euro bumper at the same time? If not you will have the cut outs behind the bumperettes showing

This is a copy of the Techart kit which does have all the duct work etc with it and will cool your brakes. This kit will not cool your brakes, just make you car look cool

I am doing this NOW with a TechArt kit
you will need to cutaway ~ 2" from each side of the bumper cover to allow the duct to slip into place.
The surgery will be hidden by the duct, but once you cut, those chunks are gone forever

if you do not cut the cover, the tang in the duct will not fit into the slot on the cover, it remains ~ 3/4" outboard of the slot.

see the attached photo to get an idea of where the bumper cover needs to be modified.
The red rectangle indicates where material needs to be removed.
I did it easily with a hacksaw and dremel tool.

Craig

ps, the HK kit also does NOT include a "special wedge" that is glued to the foglamp and improves the fit between the duct and the fog.
I'll try to post up a photo tomorrow.

Clear corners that I purchased were a difficult fit. Dod not line up, plastic was brittle and after all was said and done, used them as "donor" parts to hack up to check fitment before cutting my real parts.

(Clear corner with US Bumperettes)

Proceed with caution. You get what you pay for. Good deal, but be prepared to "adjust and modify" to work perfectly.

OK, thanks Craig for sharing that background information, including pics. Love pics! Its is as I suspected, not a project for the timid or DIY challenged...

However since I was only casting about for an 'easy way out' of having to try and 'renew' my fog/turn/side lights, I'm not sure this is the way I want to go.

There is a member not far from me who is doing the conversion to 'ducted' fogs, and I may pick up his 'newer than mine' units, thus freeing up my originals for experimentation on refinishing...

Thanks everyone for your input.

With my PCA discount just last week I purchased two factory foglight assemblies from my dealership for $251 each not much difference in price and I upgraded to HID's and LEDs in them as well. Perfect fit

Jim,
Here are the ones that I'll be replacing my fogs with, at the same time doing a bumperette delete.

https://rennlist.com/forums/for-sale...ners-sold.html

I believe these are the same ones that are sold here:

There has been a lot of discussion on these fog lights on rennlist. Just to give you some other options - although you are still welcome to buy my old ones - but it sounds like you're starting your slide down the slope.
