my new ride
I used to be a frequenter of the 911 board but am moving over based on my new purchase. This is my 7th P car in 10 years and hopefully my best deal yet but definitely the most work to get it to the condition I require my toys to be in. I bought it from a customer of Cheech at Rennwerke Porsche in NY. I was there waiting to pick up my 88 from a service the day it was dropped off. The former owner was someone who didn't appreciate what he had an knew he would have a lot of work to do to bring it back to its full glory. It is a rare 1998 C4 cab with 54k. One owner since new and loaded with options like Litronics, Supple Leather, Full Power Seats, Hi-Fi sound and 18 inch turbo twist wheels. The paint appears to be original although the front fender and rear quarter on the drivers side have damage currently. (apparently stupid garage tactics for the rear and a parking lot incident in front). Both front and rear bumper need a re spray. I estimate $4k for the 2 body panel repair and bumper paint. I plan on taking pics to document in case i ever sell. It needs a new top too. I just changed the oil, alternator and clutch and am doing Bilsteins, new plugs and wires (wires are cracked from age) as well as brake pads and rotors. of course filters, belts etc while in there. After all that the car should be perfect except for the top. The biggest disappointment with the previous owner was the level of filth I have cleaned. The leather was gross and shiny but not cracked or faded (leatherique last weekend made it look new). The steering wheel was worn from someone picking at the leather and stitching up at 1 o clock. The carpets were filthy and all the little screws in the interior (dash, power seat switches, etc) have rust showing on the heads probably from the top having a few small holes and water getting in. I have a pic but its of the good side. I will post before and after when i get it done. Sooo with all that, what would you all have paid???

Burning Brakes
Looks pretty good from the pics. Good Luck. But as a C4 cab owner myself I must point out that as the production numbers might suggest otherwise, they aren't really that rare. So what did you pay for it? Any interior pictures?

Thief! You could sell that car now and make a large profit and make up for those "more money than brains" years! But it is beautiful and you should keep, fix up and enjoy the hell out of it.
Nice find.

I know I did get a great buy and definitely have some "fix it" road ahead but I don't want to sell it. I am much more used to losing money on cars and bikes then making. too stressful to worry about finding another one owner original paint car for a reasonable price. Bad news is I will likely have to sell my 88 due to the lack of room and needed money for the 98.
